What Top Level Domains (TLDs) can I register with my package?

I already have a domain name what should I do?

You will need to transfer the domain name to us so that we can manage your website and services.
Please note that the transfer process is slightly different depending on the TLD (Top Level Domain) you have.

If you have a UK domain name (i.e. a domain name ending with .co.uk or .org.uk) see the UK Domain Name Transfer Procedure. If you have a global domain name (i.e. a domain name ending with .com, .net, .org, .info or .biz) see the global Domain Name Transfer procedure.

What is a Domain Name Transfer?

Domain Name Transfer means changing the ISP who is currently managing your domain name on your behalf, the ownership of the domain remains unchanged.

Why do I need to transfer my domain name?

In order to manage your account and services, you will need to transfer your domain name.

Your subscription package includes all domain name registration and renewal fees; there is no need for you to pay anything else anywhere. To take advantage of this you will need to transfer your domain name to us and we will manage your domain name for you.

How do I transfer a UK domain name?

Complete the following procedure for UK domain name transfer:

1. Ask your current hosting company to change the IPS Tag of the domain name to ‘TUCOWS-CA’.
2. Request confirmation from your hosting company once this has been done.
3. Let us know by sending an email to once you have done this.

Domain name transfer may take several days to be completed.

How do I transfer a global domain name?

Complete the following procedure for global domain name transfer:

1. When you place an order for a relevant package, you will be given a chance to, include your domain name and indicate that you are requesting a domain name transfer. Or you can send an email to:
2. Wait for an email confirmation for the transfer request. This email is automatically sent to the current admin contact email address of the domain name (see below).
3. Approve the transfer request by following the instructions contained in the email.

N.B. Before you attempt to transfer a domain, make sure that the Admin Contact Email for the domain to be transferred is valid. If the Admin Contact Email address listed in the current whois info is no longer valid, you must contact the original registrar to request it be changed. We can't assist you in transferring the domain until we can verify who is accepting the transfer.

Domain name transfer may take several days to be completed.
